When you think of waffles it probably conjures up images of a luxurious brunch, sprinkled with fruit and dripping with syrup *drools*. To me, waffles have always felt like a special treat reserved for weekends, occasions (such as our “non-wedding" day which you can read all about here) and when in Amsterdam!

Now, I’m not saying that waffles can’t still be an indulgence however, these savoury pizza waffles are so quick and easy they can be an everyday eat, not just an infrequent treat!

“But waffles are made with eggs” you say? Not in this household! Our magic ingredient is… AQUAFABA – the miracle liquid drained from chickpeas which is taking the vegan world by storm. There are plenty of things you can use aquafaba for: meringues, mousses, crepes, waffles, and the list goes on...

UK supermarkets and some restaurant chains are beginning to offer vegan pizzas and that is a relief but sometimes you just yearn for pizza quicker than your local vegan friendly takeaway can deliver and, let’s face it, you won’t always have a vegan pizza in your freezer when the carbs cravings strike!

"super speedy, low-cost, basic ingredient recipe so you never need go pizza-less again"

Luckily for you, I have made a super speedy, low-cost, basic ingredient recipe so you never need go pizza-less again! These Vegan Pizza Waffles pair perfectly with my 1 pot, 15 minute Speedy Pantry Vegan Marinara Sauce <--- link here! (15 mins is conveniently the same amount of time it takes to cook these waffles!).

With or without cheese?! You decide!

Feeling lazy? I got you! In the interests of… science(?) I have also tested dunking the waffles in ketchup and can confirm that it is almost just as good and even quicker!

Want to speed up the process even more?! Just skip the vegan cheese - I promise you'll barely even miss it as the waffle is already so flavourful by itself.

"One of my most used kitchen gadgets!"

In order to make waffles you’re going to need some sort of mould in that signature waffle-y shape! It feels like a pretty niche gadget to invest in but with how quick and easy it is to use it has ended up being one of my most used kitchen gadgets! If you’re not sure what to put on your birthday or Christmas wish list, or simply want to treat yo’self, with some decent waffle makers being priced at just £20-35 you can’t go wrong!

I have the Nutri Snack Waffle Stick Maker NS004 and even after years of use, it’s still going strong! Handily, depending on the amount of pressure you close the lid with you can make 2 full size waffles, or you can neatly break them into individual waffle sticks (perfect for sharing and dipping!). Sadly, this model has been discontinued but I have my eye on the Dual Belgian Waffle Maker from VonShef (aff. link) next as it has the space to make FOUR waffles at the same time, is a fab price and has heaps of excellent reviews. If you have this waffle maker, please let me know how it is as I’d love to know before making the upgrade!

Also, a waffle maker is a totally worthwhile investment as it facilitates making these incredible pizza waffles!
